Breast Cancer Now

According to Cancer Research UK, there were 55,222 new cases of invasive breast cancer in 2014 in the UK alone. As the most common form of cancer, there were 11,433 deaths in that same year.

Although 78% of women survive longer than 10 years or more, the numbers are still sobering. That, coupled with my interest in cycling, has motivated me to try and raise a target of £1,000 to help the charity, Breast Cancer Now.

Breast Cancer Now

was formed in 2015 from two other charities, Breast Cancer Campaign and Breakthrough Breast Cancer. The patron is The H.R.H Prince of Wales.

Breast Cancer Now is the UK’s largest breast cancer research charity. Their aim is that by 2050, everyone who develops breast cancer should live and they aim to acheive this goal by funding the most impactful research.

Risk and prevention, early detection and diagnosis, treatment and secondary breast cancer prevention are the four areas on which they focus their research.
